Web Services Support in the NetBeans IDE
Web services are Web-based enterprise applications that use open,
XML-based standards and transport protocols to exchange data with
calling clients. NetBeans 6.0 supports these web services through the
Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE), which provides the APIs
and tools you need to create and deploy interoperable Web services and
clients.
NetBeans 6.0 adds the following significant web services features:
- Visual designer for Web Services development.
- Overview
- Support for RESTful Web Services (JSR-311 based).
- Overview, Video
- Support for WSIT in standard distribution.
- Call a Web service from an EJB, a Web or an Enterprise Application
client module or a J2SE project with just a few clicks.
- Take a bottom-up approach to create a Web service from an EJB
or from scratch.
- Take a top-down approach to create a Web service from a WSDL file.
